it's beginning to look alot like christmas

with our tree up, it IS beginning to look and feel like christmas in the gerber home!

christopher and the boys brought home a beautiful douglas fir friday night and
we spent the evening and the rest of the weekend decorating it.
it's a 7 footer which is a plenty tall for our living room.
it's a bit wider than i anticipated, and with our living room layout,
it was tricky finding a place for it, but after moving some furniture, we made it work.

i was talking to my mum about christmas trees and she told me she prefers artificial trees
because they look nice and don't leave needles everywhere. i completely understood where
she was coming from.  real trees are more work - they require water so they don't up and
sweeping up dead pine needles most every day.  regardless, i still like a real tree.
they smell so good. with our tree up, our home officially looks and smells like christmas now.
Mmmmm.

the boys are all smiles and finn is already asking how many more days until christmas morning.
too soon is my response.  i've just begun christmas shopping and though i'm going to try my
darndest to do most of it on-line (LOVE amazon), it still requires thought and research and several hours.
no complaints though. i enjoy enjoy it - i just wish i had more hours in a day (and unlimited funds). *grin*

on another note,  i had bubba-loo photograph the little guys this afternoon at the point loma lighthouse.
the locale was amazing! i thank my coworker for coming up with the idea.
it is fitting as point loma is where we call home right now,
and the lighthouse and cabrillo national monument are an important part
of the history of this neighborhood.

i am embarrased to share that i've never been to the lighthouse.
i've been to the park and the tidepools, but i had never toured the lighthouse.
it's crazy because i've lived in san diego for so many years now.
boy was i missing out - it's amazing!!
now that i know what's there, i will be sure to take any and every visitor we
have to san diego.  it's worth seeing. i kept thinking my dad would have loved it.

unfortunately, scoutie is a bit under the weather and missed his nap today,
so there were few smiles from him.
i'm hopeful kelly snapped at least one good photo.
fingers crossed!
