where do weekends go?

every sunday evening i ask myself this.
even if i get 10 things completed, there's always 10 more things to do.
i guess that's the nature of working outside the home.
i cram a week's worth of errands into two days.

despite the obligatory grocery shopping, laundry, chores of this past weekend,
there was still some FUN squeezed in there too.  some of this fun included
cheering on finn and his soccer team, blue thunder.

they played their last game of the season and ended with a tie game of 3.
finn was a little sad saying goodbye to his teammates, and a little sadder
that he was going to miss their pizza party next saturday since we will be gone.
i reassured him he's still get his trophy and we'd see his friends again.

other fun included a few hours in the pool both saturday and sunday!
the weather couldn't be more gorgeous!!  i guess mother nature is making up
for that lousy summer she gave san diegans.
we've had a nice warm october and november so far.

we all soaked up the sunshine this afternoon
while the boys practiced their dives and somersaults in the pool,
while i researched places to go in the dominican republic.

christopher's effort to wear the boys out was successful.
scoutie napped for afterwards for 2.5 hours and woke up fresh as a daisy.

in the later afternoon we celebrated the twins (kai and katherines) 2nd birthday!
it doesn't seem possible these babies were just 1 and 2 lbs when they were born 2 years ago.
they have grown into such healthy and happy toddlers.

every time i look at these babies, i am reminded of two things.
one, how amazing modern medicine is, and two, how blessed their family is.
my heart was full as i watched them together around their birthday cake.
what a journey they've had.

I'm a Southern California mom to 2 boys and a wifey to my long-time love. I work full-time and life is a bit crazy, but I strive to remember to take time to enjoy the little things, because in the end, it's those things that will matter most.
